I printed this paper track and the paper cars to conduct training on lineups, passing, etc. It was useful when we were first getting started and before we ever hit the track for the first time.
I printed these on a color printer and used them to demonstrate various on track situations for my new driver. I would ask him to line them up for a double file start, show me what line to run, show me how to pass, etc.
I used this document to help my driver understand how to read and follow the lineup board during single file lineups. On a piece of paper I would write a lineup like he would see on the track and ask him to show me where each car should lineup. I also used this opportunity to discuss how the flagger would direct him to change positions and the proper way to pass other cars to change positions during the lineup. Example: if the flagger has instructed a car to move ahead of him he should move up out of the racing groove to allow the other car to make the pass underneath him.
I used this document to help my driver learn how to linup double file. I started by telling him the numbers of the cars and their positions. Then, as he learned I asked him to show me where the number 1 car is, or the number 6 car and so on. I also used this document to discuss how the lineup changes if a car falls out prior to the lineup.
This is a nice document to use as a new quarter midget family. It explains the basics of chassis setup and provides a glossary of the commonly used setup terms. If you don't know what a birdcage is or what caster and camber are then this is a must download.
As a new Novice family you will need to learn and understand the racing rules. This is one of many documents that will help you understand the calls on the track and prepare you for your volunteer duties.
